Mursula

Ha... I'm so sorry!

Eh, so I was talking about the Little Mermaid with my friends one day, and one of them didn't remember Ursula's name quite right. If you didn't already guess, he said Mursula. Mursu is Finnish for walrus. This tiny error immediately created a vision of a walrus Ursula in my mind, and I had to do this. It was going to be just a quick drawing at first, but I figured it will be much funnier if I put some effort into it.

Oh, I feel bad for doing this to her... The Little Mermaid was my favourite movie as a kid, and I still love it to pieces. Ursula is one of my favourite villains ever, she's awesome. I promise to paint a good old fashioned octopus Ursula someday, to make up for this. Though, I think she looks pretty damn badass as a walrus, too. And yes, she's wearing the bubbles like a feather boa.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I wanted to make the tusks a bit bigger, but if they were much longer they'd cut her when she moves her head. Hands are hard to paint, again, and the tail could look better, but oh well. The background is supposed to be her cool evil lair, but it didn't quite come out right. The bubbles aren't very 3d, they look like rings. But I still like the painting very much. Mursula looks good.

I started this painting probably two months ago, but then I started looking for a new apartment, found one, had to move, etc. Now that I'm all settled in at my wonderful new flat, I finally managed to finish this.
